Judge Dismisses 13-Year Suit Vs. Disney Over Pooh Rights

Law360, New York (March 29, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- A California judge has dismissed Stephen Slesinger Inc.’s lawsuit against Walt Disney Co. over the rights to Winnie the Pooh, dealing the literary agency a severe setback in its 13-year legal battle against the entertainment giant.

"Stephen Slesinger Inc. has tampered with the administration of justice and threatened the integrity of the judicial process," Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charles McCoy wrote in his decision.

"The court finds that SSI's (Slesinger's) misconduct was willful, tactical, egregious and inexcusable," McCoy wrote.
