Satellite TV Cos. Slam Broadcasters' 'Deceptive' STELAR Ads

Law360 (October 11, 2019, 7:49 PM EDT) -- A Facebook ad campaign the National Association of Broadcasters is running to drum up support for the expiration of a satellite law is "deceptive," a lobbying group for cable and satellite providers said Thursday. 

The American Television Alliance, which includes heavy-hitters like AT&T, Charter Communications and Dish, said in a press release Thursday that the NAB's ads mislead viewers about what will happen if the Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act Reauthorizatoin Act, or STELAR, isn't renewed.

"They want Congress to pull the plug on 870,000 Americans in rural areas and kill FCC's limited authority to ensure good faith negotiations," ATVA spokesman...
