9th Circ. Won't Rehear Spat Over Bias Claim Payout

Law360, New York (September 9, 2009, 3:53 PM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has refused to rehear an insurance spat stemming from a $20 million award in a California housing discrimination case.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Tuesday denied petitions for a panel rehearing and an en banc rehearing from the Insurance Co. of the State of Pennsylvania, which had challenged a judge's order that it pay out an insurance claim to the city of Long Beach.
