Chicago Title Must Turn Over Sample Docs: Judge

Law360, New York (September 11, 2009, 2:23 PM EDT) -- The named plaintiff in a $5 million putative class action accusing Chicago Title Insurance Co. of overcharging refinancing homeowners is entitled to a representative sample of relevant documents from three states, a federal judge has ruled, granting a discovery bid.

Judge Ronald B. Leighton's decision, issued Sept. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, says named plaintiff Richard Kingsberry's suit makes sufficient allegations to suggest the insurer overcharged reissue rates.
