Gen Re Ex-Exec Gets Probation For AIG Scandal Role

Law360, New York (September 15, 2009, 4:04 PM EDT) -- After prosecutors threw their support behind a lighter punishment, ex-General Reinsurance Group executive Richard Napier has been sentenced to two years of probation and $10,000 in fines for his role in a $500 million accounting scandal at American International Group Inc.

Judge Christopher F. Droney of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut handed the sentence to the former senior vice president at a hearing Tuesday on the heels of prosecutors' request for leniency.
