EU Antitrust Agencies In Talks With Yahoo, Microsoft

Law360, New York (September 16, 2009, 4:30 PM EDT) -- Yahoo Inc. and Microsoft Corp. reportedly are in informal talks with European Union antitrust regulators on the two technology giants' proposed 10-year search advertising partnership, which already has provoked a request from U.S. investigators for more information.

The talks are ongoing, an anonymous source told Reuters Sept. 15 without giving further details.

Microsoft spokesman Jack Evans reiterated both the company's expectation that U.S. and EU officials would "closely review" the deal and its hope to receive approval by early 2010.
