Texas Is First To Refuse Refugees Under Trump Order

Greg Abbott on Friday said the state won't take in refugees this year, making him the first to take advantage of President Donald Trump's executive order allowing jurisdictions to opt out of the federal refugee resettlement program.

In a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday, Abbott blamed Congress for failing to pass immigration reform legislation and leaving the Lone Star state to care for the hundreds of thousands of migrants who crossed Texas' border with Mexico last year.
