Trans Cop Says Bid To Ax Her Benefits Denial Suit 'Premature'

Law360 (January 15, 2020, 2:06 PM EST) -- A Houston County, Georgia, deputy sheriff is arguing her suit claiming she was wrongly denied coverage for gender reassignment services should stay in court, claiming the county jumped the gun by seeking to have her case tossed.  

Plaintiff Anna Lange shot back Tuesday at the county’s motion for judgment on the pleadings, arguing that the motion wasn’t ripe. She said that not every defendant has even answered her complaint yet, making the county’s motion “premature because the pleadings in this action are not ‘closed.’”
