Weinstein Loses Movie Licensing Contract Spat

Law360, New York (September 25, 2009, 5:34 PM EDT) -- A federal court has dismissed a breach of contract suit from The Weinstein Co. LLC over movie distribution rights, ruling it failed to state a claim against Smokewood Entertainment Group LLC.

Weinstein sued Smokewood in February, claiming it broke contract when it sold the distribution rights of a critically acclaimed Sundance Film Festival drama to Lions Gate Entertainment Corp.
