Blue Cross Dodges Claims It Owes Treatment Center $11.6M

Law360 (April 23, 2020, 5:54 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge has thrown out an addiction treatment center's lawsuit claiming Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas owed $11.6 million for care provided to patients covered by BCBS insurance policies, saying the facility hasn't been able to show it was entitled to the payments at issue.

U.S. District Judge Orlando L. Garcia on Wednesday granted a bid from BCBS to toss a suit from the Texas-based Windmill Wellness Ranch, which had launched Employee Retirement Income Security Act, common law and Texas Insurance Code claims.
