Lawmakers Vexed By Google Call-Blocking

Law360, New York (October 8, 2009, 5:14 PM EDT) -- AT&T Corp.’s recent assault on Google Inc.’s phone service has aroused interest on Capitol Hill, with lawmakers urging the Federal Communications Commission to investigate whether Google Voice unfairly blocks calls to rural telephone exchanges in order to avoid expensive access charges.

On Wednesday members of both parties in the U.S. House of Representatives reportedly joined together to ask the FCC to look into Google’s call-blocking activities after AT&T wrote to the agency last month, complaining that Google enjoys a significant competitive advantage over common carriers....
