Heller Settles With Former Employees For $19.7M

Law360, New York (October 14, 2009, 7:16 PM EDT) -- Almost one year exactly since the mass layoffs that signaled the demise of Heller Ehrman LLP, the firm’s bankruptcy estate has agreed to pay $19.7 million to its former employees to end a barrage of employment and breach of contract claims.

Following disclosure of the settlement in Heller’s Chapter 11 plan Thursday, attorneys for the class filed a motion for preliminary approval of the settlement in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California Tuesday.
