Judge: Source Defendants Owe $7.9M, Not $15.5M

Law360 (November 2, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has cleared up a dispute over the amount of the jury award in the retaliation case against hip-hop magazine The Source, holding that the 3 defendants are liable for a total of $4 million in compensatory damages as a group, not $4 million each.

U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff signed an order Tuesday confirming that The Source, founder David Mays and former co-owner Raymond Scott are jointly and severally liable for $4,377,604.34 in compensatory damages.
