Fla. Rep Challenges DeSantis Pick For Supreme Court

Law360 (July 13, 2020, 11:50 PM EDT) -- A Florida state representative on Monday filed a challenge to Gov. Ron DeSantis' decision to select Judge Renatha Francis to the Florida Supreme Court despite her ineligibility to serve as an appellate judge until September.

Rep. Geraldine Thompson, D-Orlando, filed a petition asking the Florida Supreme Court to order the Judicial Nominating Commission to send a new list of nominees for the vacant seat on the court and to require the governor to make a new appointment.
