Barclays Forks Over $144M In Enron Settlement

Law360, New York (November 3, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- After months of wrangling, one of the banks that financed Enron Corp. has reached an agreement with the beleaguered energy giant to settle litigation stemming from the company’s collapse.

On Friday, Barclays revealed that it had reached a rapprochement, with the British bank deciding to throw in the towel due to the “time, expense and unpredictability” of litigation.

Under the terms of the settlement, Barclays will now shell out $144 million in cash to Enron to settle all claims asserted against it.
