Major Ad Firms Support Microsoft-Yahoo Deal

Law360, New York (October 20, 2009, 1:34 PM EDT) -- In a move that may help clear the antitrust hurdles from Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo Inc.’s proposed 10-year search advertising partnership, the top four advertising giants have rallied around the deal and urged U.S. regulators to approve it.

The CEOs of major ad firms Publicis Groupe SA, WPP Group Plc, Interpublic Group of Cos. and Omnicom Group Inc. signed a letter Monday claiming the deal would promote competition in the search advertising market and pressing the U.S. Department of Justice to quickly sign off on it....
