By Leigh Kamping-Carder (October 20, 2009, 12:22 PM EDT) -- Photo-sharing Web site SmugMug Inc. has become the first defendant to settle in a suit brought by video software maker EasyWeb Technologies Inc. accusing nearly a dozen Internet companies of infringing a patent covering technology that allows users to quickly upload photos.
EasyWeb and SmugMug filed a joint motion Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York to dismiss all claims and counterclaims between them.
The companies agreed to cover their own attorneys' fees and court costs, although the terms of the settlement were not made public.
