AP 'Hope' Image Battle Heats Up After Artist Admits Lie

Law360, New York (October 20, 2009, 5:27 PM EDT) -- The Associated Press sought permission Tuesday to amend and expand its claims in its copyright dispute with Shepard Fairey, a day after the embattled creator of the iconic Obama “Hope” image admitted that he concealed the truth about the photograph he used and attempted to falsify evidence.

The Associated Press filed a motion asking to amend its answer and counterclaims in Fairey's declaratory judgment suit, which has been pending in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York since February.
