City Gets Partial Win Over FDNY Paramedics, EMTs

Law360, New York (October 26, 2009, 6:44 PM EDT) -- The city of New York has won a partial summary judgment in a suit brought by nearly 1,500 emergency medical technicians and paramedics who claim several city overtime practices violate the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Judge Miriam Cedarbaum of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District on Friday handed New York a win on one “gap time” claim in the suit, and dashed the workers’ hopes for a quick victory by denying their own summary judgment motion.
