ACLU Of NY Alleges Asylum-Seekers Wrongly Sent To Mexico

Law360 (August 25, 2020, 3:02 PM EDT) -- The American Civil Liberties Union of New York hit the Trump administration with a lawsuit Tuesday, alleging that seven immigrants were wrongly sent to Mexico to wait for the outcome of their asylum claims under its "Remain in Mexico" policy.

The ACLU of New York, which filed the suit on behalf of the asylum-seekers and their family members who live in New York, says that the administration's policy, or the Migrant Protection Protocols, disregards the safety of immigrants who are seeking to escape dangerous living conditions in Mexico.
