FERC Losing Commissioner With No Replacements In Sight

By Keith Goldberg (September 3, 2020, 5:11 PM EDT) -- When Federal Energy Regulatory Commissioner Bernard McNamee departs Friday, the agency will have the bare quorum of members, and there's little indication that President Donald Trump's two recent FERC nominees will be promptly confirmed.

With McNamee walking out the door, just three FERC commissioners remain: Chairman Neil Chatterjee and Commissioners James Danly and Richard Glick. That's the minimum number of commissioners needed to sustain a quorum; a single recusal would prevent FERC from acting on major issues such as pipeline approvals and electricity market disputes.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources has yet to schedule a confirmation...
