Commerce Panel Passes Bill To Put Prices On Gov't Airwaves

Law360 (September 16, 2020, 7:37 PM EDT) -- The Senate Commerce Committee on Wednesday waved along a bill that would force government agencies to place a value on government-held spectrum in order to gauge how much it would fetch in potential public auctions, despite the objections of some committee Democrats who said the measure could produce extreme results.

The bill, introduced for a second time last year by Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, would require the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, the Office of Management and Budget and the Federal Communications Commission to assign dollar amounts to swaths of valuable government-held spectrum.
