Metabolife Forks Over $56M In Ephedra Settlement

Law360, New York (November 13, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Metabolife International Inc. has agreed to shell out $56 million to settle a slew of claims stemming from the company’s ephedra-related products, an avalanche of litigation that drove the defunct diet pill manufacturer into bankruptcy.

Brown Rudnick, the law firm that represented the official committee of unsecured creditors in the Metabolife bankruptcy, revealed the settlement on Monday, hailing the news as a positive result after more than a year of legal wrangling.
