Intel Beats VLSI At PTAB In Latest Battle Over Patents

Law360 (February 4, 2021, 7:27 PM EST) -- The Patent Trial and Appeal Board has invalidated four claims in a VLSI Technology LLC circuit patent, handing a victory to Intel Corp. as it tries to fend off an infringement suit from the patent-holding company in Delaware federal court.

The PTAB said in a consolidated decision Wednesday that Intel showed the four claims, which it challenged in three separate petitions, were obvious in light of prior art.

"We determine petitioner has provided persuasive evidence and arguments presented to show by a preponderance of the evidence that Claim 1 would have been obvious," the 72-page decision said.
