Windstream To Buy Iowa Telecom For $1.1B

Law360, New York (November 24, 2009, 4:10 PM EST) -- Telecommunications company Windstream Corp. has agreed to buy Iowa Telecommunications Services Inc. for $1.1 billion in cash, stock and debt repayment, the companies announced Tuesday.

The deal is the largest of four such acquisitions by Windstream in 2009. It announced that it had purchased telecommunications companies D&E Communications Inc., Lexcom Inc. and NuVox Inc. earlier this year.

Under the terms of the deal, Windstream will pay about $261 million in cash, issue about 26.5 million shares of stock for $269 million and take on Iowa Telecom's...
