Court Says Illegal Immigrant Deserves U.S. Wages

Law360, New York (November 15, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- While carefully toeing federal immigration policy, a federal appeals court affirmed a lower court ruling that gave a disabled illegal worker compensation for part of what he would have made in the U.S. in coming years if he hadn’t been hurt.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit filed the ruling Tuesday, allowing Brazilian illegal immigrant Jose Raimundo Madeira to keep $270,000 a jury awarded him in past and future earnings.
