1st Circ. Seeks Middle Ground In $1B Maine Power Line Fight

Law360 (March 30, 2021, 2:36 PM EDT) -- First Circuit judges on Tuesday seemed puzzled by the federal government's uncoordinated review of a $1 billion electric transmission project to ship Canadian hydropower to New England, suggesting the court could resolve a suit by environmental groups if the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would simply agree with the Energy Department's analysis.  

The legal challenge to the 171-mile transmission project, brought by the Sierra Club, Natural Resources Council of Maine and the Appalachian Mountain Club, focused on a limited environmental review done by the Army Corps.
