CBS, Writers Guild Engage In War Of Words

Law360, New York (November 17, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- CBS Corp. has said it will pay back wages to a group of television news writers who previously demonstrated against stalled contract talks and recent layoffs.

However, the two sides have squabbled over what exactly happened. Both sides agree that writers for TV station KCBS/KCAL and radio station KNX left their desks on Aug. 16 as part of a lunchtime protest. CBS then videotaped the KCBS/KCAL participants and docked their pay for the hour or two they weren’t at work.
