Ex-Mortician Gets Probation For Body Harvesting Plot

Law360, New York (December 7, 2009, 3:11 PM EST) -- A former New Jersey funeral home director has been sentenced to four years of probation for his role in a scheme to secretly harvest body parts from cadavers to sell in the medical transplant market.

Robert J. Maitner Jr., 34, of Edison, N.J., received the sentence Monday morning in Essex County Superior Court from Judge Peter Vazquez, according to a spokesman for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
