'Precious' Movie Contract Fight Heads To 2nd Circ.

Law360, New York (December 10, 2009, 2:31 PM EST) -- The Weinstein Co. LLC is appealing a federal judge's dismissal of its contract lawsuit against Smokewood Entertainment Group LLC over distribution rights to the critically acclaimed film now widely known as “Precious.”

The appellate case, docketed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, follows an initial notice of appeal filed by the acclaimed independent film company after Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald's Sept. 25 dismissal.
