Freedom, JPMorgan Fight Bid To Appoint Examiner

Law360, New York (December 11, 2009, 3:02 PM EST) -- Freedom Communications Inc. and JPMorgan Chase & Co. have teamed up to slam a bid by the plaintiffs in a settled class action against Freedom's flagship newspaper to appoint an examiner in Freedom's Chapter 11 proceedings, even as objections to the media company's proposed plan and disclosure statement continue to pile up.

The Gonzalez class action plaintiffs are transparently seeking negotiating leverage by impeding plan confirmation through a pointless and wasteful diversion, JPMorgan said in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on Thursday....
