EPA Proposes Collecting PFAS Manufacturing Data

Law360 (June 10, 2021, 9:28 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday proposed a rule that would require manufacturers of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, to provide information about the amount and type of chemicals they have produced.

The EPA said the measure is part of an effort to "reduce the potential risks to the public" from the substance, proposing to require companies that have made the chemical since 2011 to provide information. It also withdrew Trump-era guidance that the agency said weakened certain PFAS-related protections.
