Discrimination A “Persistent Stain” On FDNY: Judge

Law360, New York (January 13, 2010, 7:19 PM EST) -- The New York City Fire Department's use of a written examination constituted “a pattern and practice of intentional discrimination” against black and Hispanics applicants and was part of a “persistent stain” on the department's honorable history, a federal judge said Wednesday in a stinging opinion.
