IT Employee Lodges FLSA Suit Against Kaiser

Law360, New York (January 20, 2010, 3:47 PM EST) -- An information technology employee has slapped a Kaiser Permanente unit with a proposed class action alleging the company has failed to properly pay workers overtime compensation or provide them meal or rest periods.

In the lawsuit, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, Shannon Yam accused the hospitals, which are a subsidiary of Kaiser Permanente, of improperly classifying Yam and other similarly situated employees as exempt from overtime compensation.
