DOC Begins Investigations Into Chinese Drill Pipe

Law360, New York (January 22, 2010, 2:04 PM EST) -- In response to a petition from a group of American drill pipe producers, the U.S. Department of Commerce has decided to initiate anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations of drill pipe from China used in oil drilling applications.

The investigations, announced Thursday, will look at heavy weight drill pipe and drill collars of iron or steel. The scope of the investigation does not include tool joints not attached to the drill pipe or unfinished tubes for casing, Commerce said.
