Pepsi, Safeway Face Collapsible Bottle Patent Suit

Law360, New York (January 25, 2010, 1:03 PM EST) -- Patent-holding company Marshall Packaging Co. has accused several companies that market bottled beverages — including PepsiCo Inc. and Safeway Inc. — of infringing a patent for a collapsible liquid container.

The complaint — filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas — also targets Advanced H2O LLC, which provides bottled water for a variety of supermarkets and drug stores, along with Safeway, Pepsi and several of the beverage giant's bottling affiliates.
