McKinsey Deal Not Enough For Opioid Costs, Mass. Suit Says

By Chris Villani (January 11, 2022, 4:18 PM EST) -- A suit by 124 Massachusetts cities and towns claims McKinsey & Co. Inc.'s $13 million settlement with the state attorney general over its role in the opioid epidemic doesn't do enough to address the impact of the crisis at the local level.

The Bay State was among the 49 states that, along with the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories, struck a $573 million settlement with McKinsey last February. The deal includes $13 million for Massachusetts, but more than one-third of the state's communities say it comes up short of the mark, according to the complaint filed Sunday.
