Calif. Staffing Co. To Pay $5M For Insurance Fraud

Law360, New York (January 26, 2010, 4:58 PM EST) -- A California-based temporary staffing agency has been ordered to pay $20 million in restitution to resolve a workers' compensation insurance fraud case, although an attorney for the company said his client would pay only $5 million to resolve both that case and a related civil case.

The California Department of Insurance announced the deal Monday, saying the Los Angeles County Superior Court handed down the $20 million restitution order after the state and Bellflower-based Staffing Services LLC reached a plea bargain Jan. 15.
