Medtronic Reveals $75M Settlement Over Patents

Law360, New York (December 5, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Medtronic Inc. shelled out $75 million to settle a scientist’s patent infringement lawsuit, the medical device maker said Tuesday, signaling yet another blow to the company’s pocketbook over IP disputes with researchers.

Medtronic said it settled the dispute by either acquiring and/or licensing the disputed patents and patent applications, which cover technology used in implantable defibrillators and pacemakers for regulating heart rhythm.
