EPA Tells NY Coke Facility To Clean Up

Law360, New York (January 29, 2010, 1:52 PM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has begun a crackdown on alleged violations by Tonawanda Coke Corp., vowing to end lax environmental practices at the company's facility near Buffalo, N.Y.

The EPA on Thursday rebuked the coke company for its alleged environmental wrongdoings — which include uncontrolled releases of air pollutants and the dumping of coal tar sludge — and promised to continue to hammer the company until it improves its Tonawanda, N.Y., facility.
