Cooper Tire, Workers Resolve ERISA Class Action

Law360, New York (February 3, 2010, 1:54 PM EST) -- A federal judge has given the green light to a proposed settlement in a class action accusing Cooper Tire and Rubber Co. of breaching its pension and health insurance agreement with workers.

The suit, brought by a group of former Cooper employees and their relatives, was dismissed with prejudice on Tuesday by Judge James G. Carr of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, who ruled that the confidential terms of the parties' Sept. 11 settlement were “fair, reasonable and adequate.”
