Disney Charged With Violating Labor Practices

Law360, New York (December 8, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The National Labor Relations Board has filed an unfair labor practices suit, alleging a Walt Disney Co. unit illegally outsourced 185 hotel janitor jobs.

In its complaint, which came after a year-long investigation, the NLRB accused Walt Disney World Co. of changing working conditions without proper notice, and of failing to bargain with the employees’ union.

“Outsourcing is turning Disney’s ‘Year of a Million Dreams’ into a nightmare for its employees,” said Morty Miller, the president of the Service Trades Council Union, which represents 29,000 workers...
