Jury Rules For EMC In Patent Suit Vs. Hewlett-Packard

Law360, New York (May 18, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A jury in U.S. District Court in Worcester, Massachusetts, has found that Hewlett-Packard infringed three of EMC's software patents relating to the creation of identical copies, or mirrors, of system files.

After a two-week trial, the jury found that HP's OpenView Continuous Access Storage Appliance (CASA) product infringes EMC's core patents related to the company's SRDF and TimeFinder software products, which perform remote mirroring and local mirroring functions, according to EMC.
