ITC Upholds Qualcomm Loss In Patent Case

Law360, New York (December 11, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Broadcom Corp. scored one victory in the ongoing war between it and rival cell phone chip manufacturer Qualcomm Inc., after the U.S. International Trade Commission decided on Friday to uphold an earlier determination that Qualcomm had infringed one of Broadcom’s patents.

Though the commission has yet to determine the appropriate remedy, Broadcom said it could include a permanent exclusion order barring Qualcomm from importing or selling the infringing chips to the United States.
