Fish Cos. Can't Join Exxon's Valdez Damages Claim

Law360, New York (February 16, 2010, 5:44 PM EST) -- Two seafood processing companies have been blocked from getting in on Exxon Mobil Corp.'s quest to reel in $4.4 million from the $500 million settlement fund established for claims arising from the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill in Prince William Sound, Alaska.

Judge Russel Holland of the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska on Friday told Cook Inlet Processors Inc. and Nautilus Marine Enterprises Inc. to cease attempting to wedge their own dispute with the plaintiffs committee into an oral hearing regarding Exxon's gripe....
