Judge Reopens 'Monster In Law' Copyright Suit

Law360, New York (February 17, 2010, 6:39 PM EST) -- A federal judge has given a North Carolina woman a second chance to pursue copyright infringement claims accusing New Line Cinema Corp. and nearly three dozen entertainment companies, actors and others of stealing her screenplay and turning it into the 2005 movie “Monster in Law.”

Judge R. Gary Klausner of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Wednesday granted a motion by Sheri H. Gilbert to reassert allegations that early versions of the screenplay for the comedy infringed her writings.
