EU Examines Antitrust Complaints Over Google Search

Law360, New York (February 24, 2010, 3:05 PM EST) -- European Union competition regulators have asked Google Inc. to respond to complaints from three online search sites — including a unit of Microsoft Corp.'s Bing — accusing the Internet giant of taking advantage of its dominance to block competitors.

However, the European Commission said Wednesday that it had not opened a formal antitrust investigation into Google "for the time being."

The EC notified the Internet search giant earlier this month that it had received the three complaints and asked the company to comment on the allegations....
