DOJ To Expand Fraud, FCPA Investigations

Law360, New York (February 26, 2010, 5:40 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice is planning to ramp up its fraud section’s investigations and criminal prosecutions, particularly under the aegis of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, as recent cases already have shown, according to agency officials.

“Our efforts are only going to increase, as new resources are brought to bear,” Lanny A. Breuer, assistant attorney general of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, said in a speech before the American Bar Association National Institute on White Collar Crime on Thursday.
