Court Won't Certify Nationwide White Male Bias Action

Law360, New York (March 1, 2010, 12:53 PM EST) -- A former employee of Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. has lost his bid to certify a class in a suit accusing the insurer of maintaining a policy of gender and race bias against white men.

Judge Jeanne Scott of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois ruled Friday that because no class claims were brought in the complaint, it was inappropriate for the plaintiff to seek representation for the putative class now.
