Justices Skeptical About Skilling Conviction

Law360, New York (March 1, 2010, 6:50 PM EST) -- U.S. Supreme Court justices expressed concerns about the conviction of former Enron Corp. CEO Jeffrey Skilling during oral arguments Monday, questioning whether the federal honest services statute was applied too broadly in the case.

The Supreme Court heard the U.S. Department of Justice argue for the third time this session that the statute, frequently used by federal prosecutors to target public corruption and fraud by corporate officers, is not too vague.
